Marius Aurenti

A French maker of béton ciré, lime finishes and decorative paints based in the Drôme, at the foot of the silica quarries and white-cement deposits it draws on. The Iris colour card runs to eighty-seven shades, sold as kits by destination — interior floor, terrace, bathroom, stair, worktop.

Samples are made by hand in the workshop at 6 × 5 cm or 30 × 60 cm: at that size a béton ciré is judged as a material rather than as a colour on a screen.
