Genoese since 1831, when Bartolomeo Boero opened a workshop making white lead — for centuries the only white there was. The house never left the city: its seat is the Palazzo Boero on via Macaggi, dated 1926. Three trades since: architectural paints, marine and yachting. This is the colour of Ligurian façades, whose painted renders are most of what that coast looks like.

Colorificio San Marco, founded in 1962 and named for Venice, sits at Marcon on the mainland. It has since become the head of a group holding several decorative brands, Novacolor among them. It keeps three lines — architectural paints as Vitex, external insulation as Vitextherm, waterproofing as Hermes — and its façade white is what one is really looking at, without knowing it, across the Aegean.

Die Farbkarte besteht aus drei Kollektionen, benannt nach dem, woher ihre Farbe kommt — Terre, Végétale, Ciel — dazu *Les Inédits*, und jeder Ton wird in allen zehn Finishes des Hauses angeboten. Die Gesellschaft ist in Herblay-sur-Seine eingetragen und zeigt ihre Töne in den Showrooms in Paris und London; es ist das einzige Haus auf dieser Seite, dessen Fertigung nicht mediterran ist.

Blime entstand aus der Begegnung von Armand und Adrien, Enkel einer Malerfamilie aus Montpellier, und die Farbe wird dort gemacht, wo sie immer gemacht wurde: in einer unabhängigen Familienwerkstatt in Montpellier, ISO 9001 zertifiziert, in der das Handwerk seit drei Generationen weitergegeben wird. Jeder Eimer wird auf Bestellung angesetzt — kein Überbestand, keine Reste — in vier Finishes: mat velours, seidenmatt, Lack und außen. Der Laden liegt in der rue Falque im 6. Arrondissement, und die Farbkarte ist kurz gehalten: gut hundert Töne statt eines Katalogs.

Libéron

1912 von Georges Libéron in einem Laden im Faubourg Saint-Antoine gegründet, dem Pariser Viertel der Kunsttischler und Vergolder, die die ersten Kunden des Hauses waren. Von dort kommen die Wachse, Patinen und Holzlacke; die Wandfarbe kam viel später, und die Reihe 163 Faubourg trägt bis heute die Ursprungsadresse. Heute zwei Farbkarten — *Velours de Peinture* und *163 Faubourg* — deren Tonnamen für sich schon eine kleine Geographie Frankreichs sind. Das Haus gehört der Jura-Gruppe V33, die in Domblans fertigt: es steht hier für seine Farbkarte, nicht für seinen Breitengrad.

A Catalan maker of lime materials (Comcal Natural S.L.), based on the Can Roqueta estate in Sabadell, north of Barcelona. Its range is a lime burner's, turned towards restoration and natural building: NHL 3.5 and NHL 5 natural hydraulic lime, lime mortars, lime paints for interiors and façades, a lime glaze and a lime-putty stucco. The paints, the glaze and the stucco share one thirty-seven-shade colour card, published online with a price per pot.

Auf diese Seite bringt ihn eines: seine Kalkfarbe, gebunden mit Sumpfkalk und Naturpigmenten, in fünfzig Tönen als Sets für 10 bis 100 m² — ein mineralisches Bindemittel, das wenige französische Läden mit vollständiger Farbkarte und offenem Preis anbieten.

Händler, nicht Hersteller: Ökobo ist ein Laden für ökologische Baustoffe, geführt von Yohann Klein in La Roche-sur-Yon. Er formuliert nichts — er vertreibt in Frankreich vier deutsche Häuser, die es tun: Kreidezeit, Auro, Beeck und ClayTec. Deshalb steht er hier: diese vier decken zusammen fast alle mineralischen Bindemittel dieser Seite ab — Kalk, Silikat, Lehm und Kasein — mit Zusammensetzungen, die Zutat für Zutat veröffentlicht sind, was sehr wenige Hersteller tun.

Händler, nicht Hersteller: ein Online-Laden für Naturbaustoffe, geführt von Dardilly bei Lyon durch die SARL ACA Management. Er verkauft Farben, Kalkschlämmen und Putze anderer Häuser, darunter die italienische Dolci, deren Kalk-Feinputze aus Sumpfkalk und Marmormehl bestehen, in 25-kg-Eimern grob oder fein. Sein Platz hier ist eher beim Kalk als bei der Farbe: Er bringt einen gebrauchsfertigen mineralischen Putz, nachträglich mit Pigmenten getönt, mit einer am Eimer angegebenen Ergiebigkeit.

Die Farbe wird für sie formuliert, nicht von ihr. Interessant ist hier, was eine Einzelhändlergenossenschaft leistet: über vierhundert Töne, in den Läden des Netzes maschinell abgetönt, nach Harmonien statt nach Farbfamilien geordnet und im Liter, im 2,5 L und im 10 L mit ausgewiesenem Preis verkauft.
